AR Rahman’s statement on #MeToo

Renowned musician AR Rahman has declared his stance on the #MeToo movement. Taking to his Twitter space, AR Rahman has said-

Talking about the movement, AR Rahman has said that “social media offers great freedom for victims to speak up (sic)” and has also said that “the new internet justice system should not be misused. (sic)”

He has also said that the some of the names that came up have shocked him (both victim and perpetrators). Other celebrities like Samantha Akkineni, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Chinmayi Sripada, and Kajal Aggarwal have declared their support for the movement too.

Earlier this week, AR Rahman’s sister, AR Raihanah, had spoken to the press and media saying that she too had heard several women’s #MeToo stories over the years and is in full support of the movement. She has also said that although she has not faced such harassment, she is in full support of Chinmayi as well.
