“On Diwali bursting of firecrackers will be allowed only between 8 p.m. to 10 p.m”

Days ahead of Diwali festival, the Supreme Court has regulated the sale and usage of firecrackers. According to the court order on Tuesday, the bursting of firecrackers will be allowed only between 8 p.m. to 10 p.m on the day of the festival. Reportedly, the court order is applicable to all religious festivals in the country.

The court has also restricted the duration of burning crackers on New year and Christmas. The imposed timing is from 11.55 p.m to 12.30 a.m.

A bench headed by Justice AK Sikri barred the use of chemicals such as barium in the manufacturing of crackers and permitted the sale of green crackers that have low emission and decibel standards.

The court has also banned the online sale of firecrackers.
