A breezy December evening and the spirit of the weekend set the mood right for Rhythm, one of Suryan FM’s most prized products. With some of the finest singers in the industry, the acclaimed Rajhesh Vaidhya playing the veena and Anil Srinivasan playing the piano, the evening was a mellifluous marvel that would be cherished in time.

Ask any Tamil cinema lover and they will know of the legends M.S.Viswanathan and Ilaiyaraaja. Having made equal contributions to Tamil cinema’s music, their soulful tunes are heard even today and are nothing short of immortal.

As a tribute to these decorated individuals, Suryan FM conducted Rhythm– an evening of reliving music from the golden era of Tamil cinema. The event took place at Sir Mutha Venkatasubbarao Hall, a large and spacious setting with an amphitheater design, perfect for the event. With the likes of Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi, D. Sathyaprakash and Pooja Vaidyanath lending their voices for the evening, the event turned out to be a musical extravaganza.

Naresh Iyer kick-started the evening by crooning yesteryear chartbusters Idhu Oru Ponmalai Pozhudhu and Ponmagal Vandhaal, apart from others. With the kind of voice that can create a visual of its own and with a personality that exudes zeal, Naresh only proved that he is no stranger to the stage.

Both female singers on the show– Saindhavi and Pooja Vaidyanath– have been blessed with cherubic voices and their renditions of Kaatril Enthan Geetham, Senthoore Poove, Marainthirunthu Paarkum and Naalai Enthan left the audience craving for more.

Sathyaprakash delivered an energetic rendition of the peppy number Paadadha Paatellam and also joined hands with Pooja for the melodious duet Mayanginen Solla Thayanginen.

Rajhesh Vaidhya and Anil Srinivasan subtly stole the show as their fingers weaved magic on the veena and the piano. Their music seemed beyond the need of words and the audience was held in a trance every time they played.

A show that stole our hearts, an experience that left a deep imprint on our minds, Rhythm left an impact that will be remembered for a long time from now.
