For the first time in more than 35 years, Saudi Arabians will be able to go for movies, as the government had recently lifted the ban on theatres they have had since the 1980’s.

With the government agreeing to reopen their cinema halls from March 2018, it looks like Superstar Rajinikanth’s magnum opus 2.0 is also planned to be released there. If the reports turn out to be true, 2.0 could become the first Indian movie to release in Saudi Arabia, after the withdrawal of theatre ban in the country.

Raju Mahalingam, the COO of Lyca Productions had reportedly said that 2.0 will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages in India. He also added that they are planning to release the movie in all three languages in Saudi Arabia as there are large number of Tamil and Malayalees populations there.

Produced on a budget of Rs. 450 crores, 2.0 is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2010 blockbuster hit Enthiran, directed by Shankar. While Enthiran featured Aishwarya Rai in the female lead, the upcoming sequel has Amy Jackson in an important role. Bollywood hero Akshay Kumar will appear as villain in the movie, which has music by AR Rahman. Nirav Shah is cranking the camera and Anthony is editing it. 2.0 is expected to hit theatres on 2018 Summer.
