Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar who will be playing a pivotal role in Maari 2, the sequel to 2015 superhit Maari, has started shooting for the film. The actress took to her Twitter page to announce the news, along with a shooting still.

Recently, it was speculated that the Tharai Thappattai actress will be playing a negative shaded character in the movie. However, sources say that she will be playing a powerful role with a lot of scope for performance.
Dhanush’s much-anticipated movie Maari 2 started rolling on January 22 and was officially launched with a customary pooja towards the end of last year.
The movie features Dhanush and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. The duo has already started shooting for the film and the pictures of the same were viral on social media. Check out the pictures here.
Maari 2 will feature Mollywood star Tovino Thomas as the baddie along with Krishna playing a pivotal role. Actors Robo Shankar and Vinod, have been retained in the sequel too.
Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja who had composed some chartbusters for Dhanush in the earlier days of his career with films like Thulluvadho Ilamai, Kadhal Kondein, and many others. Interestingly, the duo reunites for Maari 2 after almost decade.
